Extension of Grid Portal Functionalities with Collection and Visualization of Usage Statistics

    Get PDF
The WS-PGRADE Grid Portal allows users to create and maintain workflows through an intuitive user interface. However the current version lacks the ability to share metrics about the system. To provide these metrics a new portlet, database and web service were developed. The service is responsible for collecting and storing metrics in the database and the portlet is responsible for display of these metrics. These additions enable end-users to retrieve statistics on the portal, user, DCI\u27s, resources, concrete workflows, workflow instances, and individual jobs from the workflow graph

Educational Study Replication using Assistment The Use of Computer-Based Delivery Instead of Traditional Paper-and-Pencil

In this replication study, we used the Compared With What? study by Bethany Rittle-Johnson and Jon R. Star as our model. The purpose of their study was to find what specific comparisons in math education should be emphasized in order to maximize learning. We used the same material of assessment and intervention as the original model as students learned to solve equations by comparing solution methods, comparing identical, and comparing problem types. The difference between the two studies is our use of the ASSISTment system. While we are able to show overall learning, we are not able to show a statistically significant difference between the conditions

Operational research IO 2021—analytics for a better world. XXI Congress of APDIO, Figueira da Foz, Portugal, November 7–8, 2021

This book provides the current status of research on the application of OR methods to solve emerging and relevant operations management problems. Each chapter is a selected contribution of the IO2021 - XXI Congress of APDIO, the Portuguese Association of Operational Research, held in Figueira da Foz from 7 to 8 November 2021. Under the theme of analytics for a better world, the book presents interesting results and applications of OR cutting-edge methods and techniques to various real-world problems. Of particular importance are works applying nonlinear, multi-objective optimization, hybrid heuristics, multicriteria decision analysis, data envelopment analysis, simulation, clustering techniques and decision support systems, in different areas such as supply chain management, production planning and scheduling, logistics, energy, telecommunications, finance and health. All chapters were carefully reviewed by the members of the scientific program committee.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Hybrid optimisation approach for sequencing and assignment decision-making in reconfigurable assembly line

    Get PDF
Technological advances, promoted by the Industry 4.0 paradigm, attempt to support the recon gurability of manufacturing systems and to contribute to adaptive operational conditions. These systems must be responsive to signi cant changes in demand volume and product mix. In this paper, a hybrid optimisation approach is suggested to solve sequencing and assignment problems of recon gurable assembly lines, where mobile robots collaborate with human operators. The objectives are: i) to de ne a schedule of jobs, ii) to assign tasks to the mobile robots, and iii) to decide the allocation of robots to workstations, in order to minimise the number of robots required. Preliminary results show that the proposed methodology can make an efficient robot allocation under high demand variety. In addition to that, the hybrid optimisation approach can be adapted to other con gurations of assembly systems, which demonstrates its applicability to solve problems in other contexts

Thirty Years of Flexible Job-Shop Scheduling: A Bibliometric Study

    No full text
Industry 4.0 introduced a new change in paradigms and technologies in the industry. In the shop schedule, it gains a holistic viewpoint and online demands, real-time and reactive methodologies. Developments in the scheduling area are critical to success. First addressed by Brucker and Schlie in 1990, the Flexible Job-Shop Scheduling Problem has been attracting researchers and practitioners over the last decades. This body of research may be helpful to address the industry high flexibility scheduling problems. This article uses a bibliometric approach to study three decades of research on this problem. The main results identify the most prolific research areas, journals, institutions, countries, and authors, and co-citation networks that revealed the most influential authors, as well as their most relevant works. A conceptual analysis based on keywords burst and occurrences helped to identify the latest research evolution and trends; allowing to recognize alignments and gaps within Industry 4.0

The present article analyses the social, economic and political effects of the neo-liberal politics implementation in some South American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia). The execution of the Washington Consensus' program by democratically elected governments in the 1990's is pointed as aggravating the internal and external crisis that was initiated in the 1960's and 1970's, and deepened in the 1980's
